Exactly. And that's the point. When VA came about, the industry average Airbus 320 payrates at US Air were pathetic, at United were pathetic, USA3000 were pathetic, same with Skybus. The only high ones were Delta and JetBlue. Spirit in their previous contract were pretty low too. So that having been said, what leverage did a brand new startup airline have to demand industry leading pay?

Today, for an A320 carrier, VA is about industry average. Their FO rates are higher than Spirit's FO rates, and that's the post-strike contract. Years 1-7 Captains at VA have a higher rate than Spirit's years 1-7 Captains. VA pilots make more than their counterparts at United and US Airways. The only Airbus rates higher than Virgin are Delta and Jetblue. So while VA's rates aren't perfect, they are far from the bottom. It's right about in the middle of the pack.

Who do you fly for that you can look down on those looking to go to VX or that you feel you are the expert on what Atlas is going to be doing in the future? I'm sure you were the pride of the Navy with your pp attitude.

You guys need to ignore him. All he does is spew false garbage. He's an Alaska pilot, who keeps repeating the same old song like a broken record, that have no merit. He also seems to expect that a startup airline needs to pay industry leading wages from day one, but will ignore the fact that after 4 years, they're now paying industry average, all without the help of a union.

I had been researching Virgin on the internet, and I think he is the most negative poster on any board. Just like anything else on the internet, you need to find out if his arguments have any validity. I've found his opinions are about as valid as a 12 year olds on the financial capacity of the government in the foreign markets, who just spew out what he heard from his parents, who heard it from Fox News....

And you're satisfied with current industry "average"? A pay rate imposed by bankruptcy courts? And you can't see how YOUR "industry average" pay rate is dragging the rest of the industry down?

You guys really are a piece of work. But you keep on justifying it to yourselves. Use the same justification scabs do when they cross picket lines..."I had to feed my family."

What VX pilots either fail or refuse to understand is the cause and effect your crappy wages have on the rest of the industy. When you CHOOSE to work for a non-Union carrier who pays substandard wages, you become an anchor around the neck of the piloting profession.

Why do you think USAir and UAL narrowbody rates are so crappy? Its because the Court dumped their pay rates and imposed jetBlue rates "in order to compete" as their respective managers claimed. Then, the day before the Bankruptcy Law changed, Delta filed and gutted their pay rates.

Now those Union pilots have to fight hammer and tongs to recover and its a long road. Why? Exactly because there are guys like you who are willing to sell themselves on the cheap.

Oh well, I guess you know what you're worth. What sucks is that you're dragging everyone else down to your level and then you demand to be given "professional courtesies." Unbelievable.

Thanks for nothing.

P.S. And again, ThrustMonkey proves that if you can't come up with a rational rebuttal, just toss an insult. Good job, Monkey.

The leverage is DON'T WORK THERE. Duh. Especially in a non-Union shop where you'll take what they give you without question.

So it sounds like you should be angry at jetblue, and spirit. They were the two who had the low wages that brought down industry average initially, which is why virgin is paying what it is now.

The only thing ALPA is good at protecting is the top 10% of the seniority lists, where all their dues come from.

Wrong. Virgin is "paying what it is now" because of the bottom-feeders who accepted the job, even with those embarrassing rates.

Yep. In 20 years when you guys are still flying A320s for Regional wages, look in the mirror for the guy to blame.

What about the union pilots who fly for crappy wages? Are they subject to the same maligning? Nothing personal against those folks. Just putting that out there.

My guess is Fish wont answer this post. He seems to only reply to posts where he can answer with

"you fly for less than turboprop wages"

and

"fly for 2/3 pay"

And when people rebut (sp?) those posts, he pretends like he didnt see it, and wont reply. He just waits until he can use his 2 canned answers again from a different member.
