I love the idea of PBS, we had it at TWA and it worked wonders, but the abortion of PBS we have at CAL has to go. This is what happens when pilots vote on a contract with a blank scheduling section.

So so true! Never worked at TWA but did experience good PBS system. We've got to negotiate for input into overall system constraints, biggest one being "min reserve coverage". Can't even imagine what the N/C gave up to get the ability to drop down to 55 hr/month, then have it negated by the company's unilateral authority to establish what "min reserve coverage is". We need professional negotiators. Much respect to the guys who volunteered to negotiate with the company, but I doubt that anyone at CAL has ever operated under a good contract since the strike in '83.

Bottom line with the new contract...do we have enough militant ex-regional guys and gals that will stand their ground for a decent contract? or will the super senior...I have got mine, screw the rest of you...win the day?
Time will tell!
