United Pilot Pay returning from being furloughed

After a pilot returns to United from being furloughed, where does his/her pay start? Does it start where it was the day the pilot was furloughed - or, does it pick up as if he/she never left?

Depends on the contract.

OK Ironwalt, in this case we are talking about United's.

United pilots get no credit toward longevity for time on furlough. You left on 2nd year pay you come back on 2nd year pay.

I just heard of a fellow who was called back to United and turned it down. He got out of flying all together. He is now running an FBO or something. It was his dream to get to the majors (I knew of him in our regional "Business Express" days) But enjoys weekends off and steady hours. I'm sure their are a lot of guys/girls out there with the same outlook. Good luck to all. By the way "hair on fire" is correct.

According to my buddy who was just recalled at United, he did in fact receive credit for the 2 years he was on furlough.

Ooops, sorry, I was wrong. I believe I misunderstood what I was told by my buddy. Disregard my earlier post.
