YOu bet your rear end on that.... But the new F/O may elect NOT to take the health benefit and select something else not as expensive. It's a shame too. For the last 5 yrs, Mesaba has made approx 120 mill. All that was funneled off the the holding comapny. So Mesaba shows no profit now.

Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. You must compare the 737 to 320's, etc and widebodies to widebodies.

Why? UPS doesn't. There are a myriad of comparisons you could apply. How about # of take-offs and landings, passengers carried per year, or hours flown (productivity). That's the danger in trying to justify pay based on some other company's pay structure. If you work for U, and V,W,X,Y, and Z all make more than you, and you convince your management to pay you more based on the other company's pay, what happens when V,W,X,Y,and Z all take massive pay cuts? Won't your management want to lower your pay to match the other guys pay even if your company is doing ok?

(JB needs a contract and hopefully a higher wage)
BINGO!!!!!

Yeap.............that is why there are Unions and contracts! When X,Y,Z take pay cuts.......MGT Has to come and asks for concessions. That is much preferred to imposing them............at least there is some quid pro quo.

Bottom line when the company is profitable, it is time for MGT to give employees something for the effort.....................because when things go south they always ask for concessions............................

HMMMM..............Come to think of it, I never remember MGT ever coming to us during very profitable times and say "Here you go, here is a nice raise for all your hard work".....................FDX use to have profit sharing, but they stopped it (for the working class) when the profits were so huge they didn't want to make the pay outs..................Glad we have a contract that mandates a "B" fund in place of our former profit sharing agreement.

Comair Take up the slack? Delta's got over 400 REAL airplanes. I still have paystubs with money deducted for you and your buds at Comair, and I'd do it again for the REAL ALPA guys there. You sound like you're nipping at the butt to cross the line. I wish you a loooong career in your nice RJ. No offense to the good guys at Comair

I didn't read all the thread, but what I could glean you are on the mark with your comments. That said, DAL pilots could have (and not just them, all majors, just using DAL as an example) worked to integrate Comair, ASA and any other regional it (used) to own and help to keep the whipsawing to a minimum.
