AirTran 737 to SFO Question

Can any of you 737 AirTran folks shed some light on what the SFO trips are like? Wondering how much time off in SFO?

aupilot 12-04-2007 04:34 PM

They can be anywhere from 12 to 24 hours.

Thanks. Do you know:
1. How long are the normal trips which go to SFO
2. What other locations (if any) do you go
3. How many hours do you get on these trips

If I remember correctly, you are left with your number 2 hydr. system which gives you minimal flight controls and the 3.9(or 3.8) kVA Emergency Generator. MX accidently deployed one on the ground in Spain when I was flying C-5's and we had to bring it back to the states.

1. Normally the trips to SFO are going to be part of a 4 day trip. Some of them end with the red eye back. Occasionally you will see a SFO trip where you deadhead out and fly back or one leg to SFO with a 24 hour layover and then fly the red eye back. There are less SFO overnights during the winter since we cut back the flights during that time.

2. Pretty much any of the cities the 737 goes to can be a part of the trip.

3. If you are doing a trip that ends with a red eye it will average between 18 to 19 hours. The rest of the four days will be around 22-24 hours.

Thanks,
I was just hired, and I live in Northern California. Is it possible to deviate and start in SFO?

Welcome to AirTran. Are you still awaiting class dates or have you already been assigned 737? That'll save a lot of discussion.

Very rarely, i've seen a trip starts with a DH to SFO, hope i'm wrong. Most likely will be a DH within a 4-day trip, like previous poster has said.

Thanks. I am in the pool. I am in the military and I am not getting out until May. I really enjoyed their interview process and liked the kool aid they were serving. Seems like a great place to be.
