UAL pays for uniforms which are 6 shirts, 2 pants, blazer, overcoat, 2 ties, and hat. I added it up it is about $900 worth of stuff. Of course, if I were paying, I wouldn't buy 6 shirts. I think costs or new hire pilots even out in the end no matter which company you go with. You don't pay for hotel at CAL, but you pay for health care. You get 2 weeks of hotel paid for w/ DAL, but not after that and you pay a relatively high premium for health care. United doesn't pay for hotel, but you get lower health care and covered uniforms. So, what's my point? Don't make a career decision based off of initial and up-front costs. If you have to make a decision, look at all the factors. Anyway, I hope this info helps. Good luck. |
