DUDE?!? Bush is last in a long list of people to blame for this. My God even our wonderful union was in support of this catastrophe. Was he supposed to veto a bill that an overwhelming majority of congress voted for and the largest pilot and airline lobbies where in favor of? I'm not the biggest Bush fan in the world but it seems he gets blamed for everything including the weather. Prater is at the top of my blame list. Although, if you read the ADA, age 60 was in direct violation of it. For that matter, age 65 is in direct violation as well.

I can't stand Bush. But he is not to blame for this.
Wanna quit at 60? Then quit at 60.
Seriously.
It is not realistic to allow them, under the guise of the faux bankruptcies of the past 6 years, to take everyone's pension and shift that money to upper management (which is exactly what the sham BKs were all about) and not have some consequences. Many folks who could have afforded to retire at 60 under the old standard suddenly had their money de facto stolen from them. The chance to work a few years more is not unwelcome.
I have no dog in this fight. But 60 is outdated and unfair, especially in light of the rules that don't favor the workers at all anymore.
Just my $.02. YMMV.

Most of the rest of the world is not 60. Planes in the rest of the world are not falling out of the sky with 64 year old pilots. Chill.

ICAO changed to 65 recently. British Airways was 55. Just wait until it happens. Even if age was not a factor of a crash, the media will mention it.

"Thank you Mr. President for signing into law language that will add an additional $2-2.5 MILLION to may career earnings by the time I'm 65!"
Hope your loved ones enjoy it when you drop dead at 67 or so from not retiring at 60. Actually, if your picture is accurate, you won't get anything extra as your upgrade from F/O just got delayed by 5 more years. I don't know of any carriers paying their F/O's 2-2.5 mill for 5 years of work. Bush's sig just delayed your upgrade, your Capt's pay, and likely cut into your life expectancy. Not much for you to get excited about if you ask me.
