Continental insurance

I just got a call last week for an interview next month. I heard a rumor from another pilot that for the first 6 months, CAL does not offer you any health insurance. Is this true? If it is what can you do to get insurance for that 6 months. Not that this is going to affect my decision to take the job or not, but I just need to get prepared.

Sad but true. 6 months plus one day and you will be insured, what Bull****.

Yes I do work here and am less than thrilled.

yeah, it's apalling, all right. the people who are making a CAREER move get lumped in with the rampers and gate agents most of whom leave within the first 6 months.

just another feature of one of the "best companies to work for".

I guess you don't think I should leave NWA after 8.5 yrs for CAL eventhough I live in IAH and won't have a pension when I retire at a lower payscale than CAL.

Not at all JP. NWA's management is even more appalling than CAL's, (NWA currently has a bunch of Lorenzo alumni running it). I'm hoping the Pilots at Cobra Airlines, (NWA), gets their sheet together and stops these guys before its too late.

With 8 1/2 years you shouldn't be anywhere near a furlough but with your entire pension being a voidable "A" plan. I'd def. consider another airline, (including CAL).

The Shoe as in recently impeached IAH LEC rep, no wonder. Perhaps he'll quit when he's convicted of fraud and spends some time in the slammer. Have Fun Mr. Shoe.
