Default Southwest poolies called for training

I'm trying to find out if any of the poolies have been called for training classes.

And, does anyone know how much lead time the would give? If they start a training class in Jan, then don't they give those in the pool some sort of lead time?

I have heard that they give at least 30 days notice b/c they need to
(re)do your drug screen. FWIW, they (PD dept) sent an email to all the poolies wishing a happy holiday. The email contained a complete list, in order, of all the folks swimming in the pool. There were 376 names on it. Good luck to you...

A friend of mine got called about a week ago that he was going to be in a Jan class. I am not sure of the class start date. So looks like about a month or so. He was in the pool since last April/May time frame. Hope this helps

One class announced so far--9 January/20 slots. Remaining classes still not finalized. PD does need 30 days, so we'll see what happens w/ the rest of the month. The new age 65 rule signed into law last week, may change things quite a bit.

What has been the typical waiting time in the SWA pool? I would have thought that given a very lengthy delay that it would at least be fair to expect someone to look elsewhere while the mortgage still needs to be paid!
Thoughts?

Waiting time was 4-5 months before training was shut down. Now it is anybody's guess. PD was calling pilots with a 5/16 pool date for the 9 Jan class.

Anyone have a solid date for the next class after 9 Jan? Rumors say Feb for class #2 for 2008, and then TBD. That means a few more months swimming for us.

Hey Hook,
Nice jet....seems like I've seen that one before!

I talked to Gina on Wed. Other than the 9 Jan class, she had no other info to offer on future classes. Only that no news means just that...no classes scheduled....no classes canceled. Just more wait and see I guess.

With this 65 thing everything has come to a halt. We are going to net 6 airplanes next year, so my guess is about 60 new FO's. Not looking real good right now!

The rumor I heard, and it is just that, is that SWA is going to put all poolies thru training next year, but may not hire anymore into the pool. Even if it was true last week, as all else in this business, subject to chage, by the minute.
