Default Top 5 pilot jobs

What companies would you most like to work for longterm and why:

1) FedEx - Lots of time off, good pay, good company, CASS. Hard to get in.
2) Air Serv International - Crazy African bush flying, lots of fun, worth the low pay. Gotta live in Africa dodging bullets and crap for low pay.
3) Wasinc - Awesome pay, great perks. Don't know much about it.
4) Any foreign (non-US) airline - good pay, good conditions. Usully have to be a citizen of the respective country.
5) NetJets - Fly as a real pilot, VFR, new airports, use your brain. Cramped quarters, too much work.

I'm already with #1, but if I wasn't, I'd be shooting for Emirates or similar. Lots of perks involved which are non taxable, (they usually house you and pay for your kids schooling) as well as adventure of living in a foreign country, which also usually gets you a $80,000 foreign earned income deduction, so your take home is really high. The down side is there is usually no retirement plan...you have to do that yourself.

You are obviously single with no kids, because being a new hire at the top four involve a foreign domicile or a kevlar vest, or both. Good luck with that.

If you read my post carefully, you'll see that I mentioned living in a foreign country as an "adventure". Specifically, with Emirates, you live in Dubai. Very nice place. Safe. No kevlar required. Hot, though.

Plenty of people take their children on foreign postings and everything works out fine. It's definitely not for everyone, though.

Perhaps you should forget about flying and make a career of guessing peoples marital status over the internet...

BTW, you're already off with a .500 batting average. My wife and I lived abroad while I flew for 9 years and loved it.

Nothing personal and no disrespect to US carriers or the crewmembers who fly for them, but after flying abroad, there ain't no airline in the US returning for with the eception of Fed Ex, UPS or SWA. Can't beat the pay, benefits, perks, and most of all, QOL with a confirmed ticket home stateside in first class.

The best airline job is a Delta 767ER FO! I am just a little biased :-)

As for Emriates and the other Mid East arilines, to each his own. No matter how pretty and modern you think Dubai is, it's still a 10th Century barbaric society under a nice gold leaf veneer. You are one nutso's bullet away from dhimmitude. You may find yourself on a short donkey rather than in first class one day.

Both are incorrect. The best job is the one where scheduling buys your trip and you get paid to stay home and do whatever you want! And everyone knows 737 F/O is the best!
