DFW-LGA event

I flew on American from DFW to LGA the other day (full airplane) and witnessed an event I would like to share.

About 5-10 minutes prior to landing an announcement was made by a flight attendant asking passengers to permit some people to get off first as they had a tight connection. Well, I figured this being New York, why we’d just give them about 3.2 seconds and that would be it. If they can’t make it by then ………

After landing and just before arriving at the gate, the announcement was repeated but added was the fact that the passengers were twelve young men who had just been inducted into the U.S. Army and needed to catch their flight to Atlanta to make the start of boot camp the very next day.

As these young men went up the aisle, somewhat embarrassed, they were greeted by the entire airplane clapping their hands and shouting words of encouragement. Not one passenger got up to delay them. It was a sight to see and enjoy. :)

They looked so very young.

Very good indeed, but why did they go DFW -ATL via LGA? Somehow hard to believe.

Because the tickets are also cheaper with a stop.

I would see every day I commuted from LGA to STL, there would always be gate info on ORD. Why would passengers buy LGA-STL-ORD when there was LGA-ORD at the next gate over? It is cheaper.

This is nothing new.

Fireman, great story and thank you for passing it along to us.

Their flight DFW-ATL was canceled and DFW-LGA-ATL was supposedly the fastest route.
