Flight Case

Where is the best place to get a good quality and reasonably priced flight case?

Coyoteworks.net Great bag. You can't beat the plate on the bottom.

Got mine from Jeppesen, but I don't think it's worth it. Don't waste the $$$ on one of these.

Contact Scott Leather in TX. Great bags, great service, and they give a large discount if you're flying for an airline (around 30-40% off). This place seems to produce quality and looks to be the choice of most guys I fly with.

If you’re on a buget, go online to Office Depot, search Catalog Case, Item #: 398958, it's only $36.99 and will last you at least 3 years! If you can get over the fact that it is vinyl rather that leather it is just as functional and is lighter to carry. Who knows, by the time it wears out you may be making better money or using an electronic flight bag anyway. A $200 - $300 bag gives you style points, but this one gets the job done also.

Correction....it may last you 3 years. Mine lasted 1 year. Spend good money on a good bag and just be done with it. I also recommend coyoteworks. They're on the net. These bags are made by pilots for pilots.

Concur. My first Heritage case lasted two years. My second lasted two months. Now I have a Samsonite that's lasted for two years, but I don't think it's in production anymore.

I've had one for over 9 years. It is starting to wear on the bottom a bit, but it's been a great bag. A little espensive, but worth it.

What about the manuals? They have the leather cases and then manuals too, 1" and 2". Do you need the manuals or are they just fluff?

I recommend the Scott Leather case as well. It's more expensive than what you would find in Office Depot, but it's extremely high quality and holds up very well. I've had mine for a year, and it's as good as new.

I absolutely would NOT recommend the Purdy Neat flight case. Mine lasted less than 3 years, until the bottom literally fell out and I had to ask Maintenance to come to the airplane with speed tape to get me through my pairing.

The Coyote Works flight cases are extremely durable, but the metal plate adds extra weight and I know people who have had back and shoulder trouble after months of multiple legs with aircraft swaps. The leather on their saddlebag handles also have a tendency to stretch.
