Default NWA Pilot's Union Meets with CAL CEO

Wondering why Northwest's Union reps would meet with Larry Kellner behind closed doors?

What does CAL's MEC say about that???

Very unusual, indeed.

I hope everyone remembers the last time our management met with Delta's union 1998. A staple deal was agreed to pending merger. After an event like that, I really can't understand how this pilot group remains fragmented. We better get it together.

Every one of the legacy carriers has had management and union reps meeting with each other continuously for years. I wouldn't bother speculating.

This just happened and if you read the news reports, a NWA/CAL pairing wasn't even in the cards.

Due to the "golden share" issue, guys at NWA have always known that NWA/CAL was "in the cards." Doesn't mean it's going to happen of course, but I'm certainly not suprised to hear rumors of them talking about it.

Yes, talking to the experienced hands at FedEx & Delta the mergers that actually happened were not the mergers being talked about in the crew room. Tigers and Delta pilots all tell me that the Pan Am and Fed Ex deals were very quiet until they happened.

I've wondered why this merger talk has been so incredibly public, then today I read an analyst who noted that every time Delta stock get pumped there is a large investor selling shares. The analyst's opinion was that DAL was headed over $20 a share, but that it could not get upside traction yet because of the couple of entities liquidating their holdings.

I'm thinking that probably nothing will happen, or if something happens it will involve AirFrance / KLM money and possibly United, not NorthWest. But maybe that's because I'm listening to the rumors coming out of the FSDO.
