Jones Soda replaces Coke on Alaska Air flights
Ok, that's it, I am never flying Alaska again. I'm burning my Mileage Plan card right now!
From Seattle Times:
Jones Soda has bumped Coca-Cola again, replacing it as the soda drink partner for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
Beginning April 1, the Seattle-based airlines will serve Jones drinks on 1,000 flights a day.
Last year, Seattle-based Jones began pouring drinks and selling bottled beverages at Qwest Field, where the Seahawks play. Coke had poured for the Seahawks for most of the past 30 years.
The airlines will offer Jones' cola, sugar-free cola, lemon lime and sugar-free cream soda. Other flavors will be available periodically.

Are you serious or joking. Its funny (well not really) how many times I have heard this statement over the last six years at Alaska. While living in the Pacific Northwest, I feel embarrassed at times when telling people I work for Alaska.

Justin Case,
After seeing the majority of your posts regarding Alaska, it's clear that you aren't very happy flying there. Now I'm pretty new and have been obviously drinking the probationary kool aide..... your constant negativity makes me wonder: are there any redeeming positive factors about life at Alaska??
Just curious.

Nope. Just want to chime in with my 12 years of life here at Alaska....
Have only seen things get worse year after year. Note the recent employee opinion survey; a 13% approval rating from the pilots. That's up a whole 1% from last year. The CEO and his crew are not even close to being good liars, reference the "Vision 2010" plan. As for our contract, if you've been on reserve in the last 10 years you're aware that it's less than useless. This company bends over backwards trying to find ways to screw the pilots to include blatant violations of our contract. I wish we had a better option than "Fly then grieve." Oh don't forget how we cut corners on our maintenance and put an MD80 in the pacific 8 yrs ago then tried to blame it on the FAA. I could go on but my advice is to seriously consider other options if they're available.

I made that statement partially in jest. AS is the hometown team and I'm unhappy at some of the things I see happening to friends who work there. BobMarley stated it well. It's been several years since the arbitrator gutted your salaries and negotiations is dragging along slower than a dying slug. Pretty soon, this will be the status quo.
The RLA has crippled your ability to self help. Management gives itself bonuses and such, while the newest FO has to apply for welfare and food stamps. The work rules are getting draconian, bordering on jeopardizing safety. It's like going into a gunfight armed with a knife.
So, yeah, I'm unhappy with Bill and the gang. I have never been shy about saying so on the forums either.
Finally, I love Coke and almost won't drink anything else. You can have my turkey/salmon/roast beef/burrito/kim chee soda.
