Default Continental Not Hiring?

Heard today that CAL has halted it's pilot hiring, and is transferring pilots from the training center to the line. Anyone know if this is true? Been out of touch for awhile...could just be another crazy Airline rumor.

Another crazy rumor. We may be paring down the class sizes during the spring but we will continue to hire the rest of the year. A new bid comes out tomorrow so we will see more then

Not true. Sixty per month until summer, then it slows to allow instructors to return to the line for summer flying and then back to 60 per month in the fall.

The system bid just came out and there are 293 vacancies, 110 captains.

So I would say that hiring will continue.

Actually the bid is barely enough to cover the retirements. I hope they don't get caught with their pants down................................ but I'm still happy to see us hiring vs furloughing like many other companies. Just wish more of those old farts would leave and let us younger guys move up..........

we're retiring a couple of 737's and some of the ex-ATA 757-300's are delayed. but they can post an adjustment bid anytime they want.
