Good news, but too little to late. AMR cnxld some big $ 767 and 777 flying for the high dollar spring and summer travel period. And according to posts here DAL increased flying and doubled there hiring to make money in the summer months. AMR is making some very scary decisions lately and I don't like it!
They've been giving away market share and shrinking since '01. Not a pretty picture, recalls or not. |
AMR will continue to shrink/cut flying until two things happen: a) we sign a new contract and/or 2) we merge with somebody. Until then, they have already demonstrated they are not interested in preserving market share. Rather, they are more concerned with cutting costs/routes/aircraft to keep the share price inflated = big PUP bonuses every April.
So while DAL, CAL, even UAL continue growing, we will see AMR continuing shrink... even during the big $$ summer months. 73 |

OFD,
I have my last IOE trip tomorrow, the trans atlantic checkout (CDG.) After that my rear end is officially the property of AA crew scheduling as I duke out yet another month of reserve. How much will the PUP be this year, any guesses? 73 |

I knew I should have sold my AMR stock at 38. Oh well, down the tubes with that idea.
Oil at $103/bbl, it might be a long Summer for all. FF |
I thought the 767/777 cnx issue was because of all the 140 or so 60 yr olds that walked in Feb?
Yea, the cancels suck for AA, but its good for the recalls and the contract- get more pilots and get the seniority list moving, at least for the short term. |
