Default UAL trading at $43

In "pink sheet" trading UAL (NASDAQ UAUAV) is trading at $43. I think A LOT of shares will trade hands next week.

Yes, but look at UALAQ.OB to see what will happen to the new stock in time. I can't see UAUAV as a good investment until they show some profit. Maybe that is what you mean, if so, nevermind.

Yep, the UALAQ.OB shares will be canceled, if you have 'em...it's time to sell everyone! The $17B loss is shedding the debt from the old company (on paper). The creditors of the current company will be paid in the range of $.04 - .09 cents on the dollar in stock of the new company. UAL will show a profit in 2006, IMO. In fact, I think they'll show some strong profits.

I agree that almost ALL airlines are bad investment, but there is some short term money to made in the trades as the stock open on Wed.

I agree with ya HSLD. That's why I'm buying in BIG, albeit with an 8% stop-loss set. That would be great if UA is profitable in '06. It's about time a legacy turned the corner.

I believe I read where they need $50 bbl oil to be profitable. Maybe Hastert can pull a few strings again in that area. If the price of oil does fall to around 50, I think AA and CAL will be profitable also. Bodes well for everybody.

I hope you are right. It would be good to see a legacy making money again, then maybe this constant attack on the Terms and Conditions of the pilot profession will let up.
