JetBlue new MCO base

For those of you who were sitting on the fence about JetBlue and MCO.

Does anyone know if this is the "virtual" base still or has it already moved to a fully staffed base? When I interviewed they said the virtual base would be first to be followed by a full time base with reserve crews sometime in the fall.

Right now it is a virtual base for pilots and a real base for FA's. Don't ask me how that decision was made. Hopefully it will become a real base soon. Right now the pairings aren't very good there at all. You going to be sacrificing hours for more nights at home.

Virtual base to start in June 08 Airbus only. Reason to start as a virtual base is to test the virtual concept then explore other cities as a virtual base. I would expect real base by Oct 08. Maybe both a/c types.

What is a "virtual base"?

I base without admin. staff/ or in JB case w/o reserve pilots & admin.

Why not have all virtual bases. I am sure I would function much better without reserve duty and chief pilots.

With no reserve pilots, what happens if someone calls in sick for their pairing on short notice?

Also, what if all the trips/pairings in the virtual base suck and NOBODY that lives there bids them?
