Continental closing Guam?

I heard in Houston that Continental was reassigning people based out of Guam, has anyone else heard of this?

Haven't heard that one, but who knows.

Not true. No plans or bid that would indicate that.

Concur, next month bid and block hours are planned as well as the summer flying. BTW...we do well in that part of the world.

What or how did you hear this?

It is no secret, the Int'l market is a huge $$ making sector for CAL and other airlines serving the Int'l markets. I find it hard to believe that CAL would pull out and close GUM.....especially since it's a nitch market with a specialized location with direct Int'l feeds.

Highly doubt this rumor has any concrete ground.

You use the term "reassigning"......do you mean TDY?? Either way, TDY does not mean they are "closing" a base.

NWA makes a ton of money flying Guam and Saipan to Narita. They are both big vacation spots for all of Asia. We don't base pilots there, but I would be very surprised to see CAL shut down their operation over there.

Im currently on a long layover in Guam and talked to a continental pilot and he laughed when I asked him about this rumor. Rumor not true.

I think the rumor comes from a slight reduction of FA's due to elimination of a GUM-Nagoya flight. So some of them are in IAH now training for domestic flights.

It did come from a FA that said she was being sent back to the states, because they were closeing Guam. Thanks for clearing that up
