AMR's Response to Delta merger. American, American Eagle
Would like to hear some thoughts on what AMR (AA/AE) pilots think will be AMR's response to the Delta-NWA merger.
1) Are they thinking they need to get "in the game and merge"? Or buy out another?
2) Are they feel the need to consolidate?
3) Continuing to divest Eagle? Maybe their better off keeping Eagle and utilize (expand) for more profit? Is this in the best interest for AMR?
Share your thoughts...Lets hear who guesses right about AMR's future.

Doubt expanding Eagle is the answer, and from operations so far, doesn't appear in the cards. How can AMR make a decent profit with a bunch of 37 to 50 seat RJs with oil what it is? Probably better to shed it, hate to say it. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if bankruptcy was AMRs response, unfortunately.

I agree with much of what you say. Not sure what dance partner is even available. However BK? Our cash position is actually pretty good considering. If it comes down to us going BK, I would expect to see a few other Legacies going under at the same time.
However, just when I thought I could say I have seen it all.......... well, you can fill in the blank.
At least things interesting

Rumor mill indicates that they will announce the parking of around 30 S80s tomorrow, along with some possible Airbii. Shrink shrink shrink... great plan.
Thanks to all who attended National Action Day today.. spectacular turnout and great media exposure.

This forum is getting pathetic, everyone cries "flamebait" when a rumor is posted not to their liking. Grow up. I've heard it from several pilots at AA.

Here is something many have heard of...Purchase Alaska...
It seems American's route map is slightly restricted in the NW states and Alaska.
Possibly AMR can purchase Alaska. Along with Alaska comes Horizon. American Eagle has absolutely "NO" NW state flying and limited LAX routes. Combining Horizon with Eagle will provide a stronger feeder and Alaska has an all 737 fleet (phasing MD80's).
Not a strong competition with the fleet at new Delta, but its a start!
Maybe the Dash 8's would start the phase out of the Saabs? What about seat restriction scope clause?
