I just had the same experience.... I guess not telling them you're a jumpseater over the phone is a good idea.

Thanks for the info. But like a few other websites. It does not help to let it vent in a thread (Not that you did). Get a hold of an AA pilot. Contact your jumpseat committee and have them contact ours. If have done this already my apologies for bringing this up.

I will drop a note about this to our committee Monday morning.

Guys!!! I understand as pilots we like to complain or B&^%H, but man of these problems can be fixed or resolved with minimal work.

Thanks

AAflyer

Very true,

Our JS guy has worked many issues with both AA and Contential JS guys over security document checkers here in DFW. I even had the Contential JS guy call me direct to say he had talked to the DFW station manager and the problem was fixed (and it was). These guys are good!

I use AA all the time out of DFW to MSP and back for work or to PHX to see my folks. Haven't used the JS number since CASS since the res people can't see your ID.

AAflyer....thanks for the rides. Always a pleasure talking to you guys.

All the more reason to travel in uniform and to intercept the CA or FO before they disappear down the jet bridge.

Any chance you could get them to change UPSers to D6U? I think we're
listed as D6L or whatever the limited notation is.

AAflyer,

Is there any talk of dropping the "L" off international jumpseats? I live in Dallas and would love to catch your 777 from NRT to DFW vs my DH to MSP then commute to DFW. You double crew the DFW flight and we can't get on even though there are seats in the back.

Thoughts?

Swed and Ferd,

Let me submit both these to APA's jumpseat chair. I am off to check on my house in Upstate NY, let me hopefully get back to both of you by the end of the week.

Ferd,

I lived up in Lake Calhoun till last summer. I enjoyed the summers up there,

All the best,

AAflyer

I too have been told to call by the agent, the on the phone they say go to the gate. The people on the phone though are pretty nice and put my name down anyway. I pretty much use AA exclusively out of DFW to NYC or other trips.

Also AAflyer, I was talking to a UA pilot while we were going to ORD and had this story how an AA 777 captain would not take any jumpseaters ever, even from AA. Two guys were trying to catch the 777 DFW-ORD, and he would not let her nor his own AA guy get to work on his jumpseat. Apparently he said, I don't commute, why should I let you guys?

Just a rumor I heard thats been passed down probably.

Sax,

I find that pretty hard to believe. That would be immediately given to the chief pilot, not to mention the union. It would make such a stink here any one of us that fly here would have heard about it by now.

Sounds more like a story which has grown some fangs over time.

Cheers,

AAflyer

P.S. Go SIOUX!!

I jumped out of DFW yesterday and listed at the gate with AA with out a phone call. I was treated very good there was a problem with our Cass provider and the AA agent took the time to work it out so I could be listed. Not complaining because I understand but two other airlines did not take the time to do that or did not have the experience this gate agent had. It was a big help Thank you AA

Default Just to Clarify

The number is 888-933-5922. (888-WE-FLY-AA)
Press the number 3 option on your telephone.
Wait for Operator.
I'm a pilot with ____ airlines and I would like to list for a flight.
first name, last name...required TSA information: middle name, birthdate, and gender and you are done.

When you get to the gate tell them you listed on the phone and they will just want to see your airline ID. They will be very happy with you for listing on the phone as will the people standing behind you in line.

I do it twice a week and they are always really great to me. Thanks so much to American for making my Tucson to ORD a one legger instead of two.
