Southwest Airlines Co. is looking at ways to add international flights to its route schedule.
Southwest (NYSE: LUV) currently only operates flights in the U.S..
Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly and other airline executives are looking at possible code-sharing agreements with other carriers that offer international service.
A code share allows different airlines to mesh and coordinate flight schedules and reservation systems.
Dallas- based SWA has major operations in Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Chicago and Baltimore-Washington.
Tempe-based US Airways Group Inc. (NYSE: LCC) is part of the Star Alliance which coordinates schedules and ticketing among 23 carriers including Lufthansa, Spanair, Air Canada, United Airlines and Air China.

Hopefully their new international codeshare "partner" will fare better than ATA did.

I'd be a bit skittish to be SWA's new "partner."

I'd also be surprised if a company that valued its employee-mgmt relationship would have anything whatsoever to do with US Air...it's another contract negotiation ploy...
