So how many times are you gonna start the same stupid thread...

Give it a break. Find something better to do. I could link you to a couple threads if you need something to do. I think you started one just like it.

Molon Labe 05-23-2008 04:18 PM

JC will soon mention how vital it is to reduce cost wherever possible, then they will talk furlough then, they will reduce something in the way of capacity. Then they will blame the losses on the greedy pilots for not giving up enough pay. Then they will furlough a few pilots whereby the pilots will concess something, then JC will give himself a bonus.

captscott26 05-23-2008 05:16 PM

I just dont have the time or energy to talk about this anymore......enough is enough!!!

UnlimitedAkro 05-23-2008 05:23 PM

why are you singling out Spirit? If oil stays above $130 through the summer, there will be 30+ airlines out of business. Who is gonna be the first idiot to say im wrong about that one....

Its easier to spell ?:rolleyes:

UnlimitedAkro 05-23-2008 06:28 PM

yikes. thanks....

atpcliff 05-23-2008 07:44 PM

Hi!

Oil will probably go up and be quite a bit over $130/barrel for the summer, and a few years from now we will look back fondly on the cheap price of oil and gasoline back in '08.

So, when this happens, ALL the airlines will go out of business?? I don't think so.

YIP

UnlimitedAkro 05-23-2008 07:55 PM

I read above your post ATPcliff, I couldnt find one person that said ALL airlines would go out of business.... so what are you talking about??! Obviously not ALL the airlines would go out of business...

Not all airlines ... Airtrak, a subsidiary of Amtrak, will still be operating using equipment from all the other airlines. The prices aren't too bad, but the seemingly frequent accidents are a bit disconcerting to the flying public ... :eek:

shiftwork 05-24-2008 05:46 AM

Go check out your email, spamec-fastread:

There will be no bankruptcy.
There is no talk of liquidation or merger.
There is no planed furlough or reduction in force.

Strait from the company and union.......

POI said much the same yesterday; $150 a barrel is another story but I don't think NK is the only ones worried about that.

x183 05-24-2008 06:46 PM

Everyone.

Don't worry about it ($150 bbl oil, or wherever it goes). There is nothing you can do about it beyond conserving fuel when you are at work. Just reduce your expenses personally so that if it does happen, you won't be left holding the bag! (i.e.- Live within your means)

Where did you get that from? :eek:Are you a pilot at Spirit?

NJGov 05-31-2008 12:04 PM

Confirmed. A letter was sent out by our "ALPA Email Committee" informing us that the company filed WARN to give us 60 days notice of pending displacements and / or furlough affecting 242 pilots.

Nothing else said so far, and any speculation is just that - speculation. More facts to be delivered at the end of next week.

BoredwLife 05-31-2008 12:15 PM

Great! (sarcasm)

shiftwork 05-31-2008 12:21 PM

May 31, 2008

Greetings fellow pilots,

At 1744 EDT Friday evening our Vice President of Operations, Jeff Carlson, sent facsimile copies of three certified letters to ALPA President Capt. John Prater. These letters were notices pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN). Spirit Airlines gave the minimum required legal notice of potential base closings in LGA and SJU, and of a potential reduction in base size in FLL. Capt. Creed, upon hearing of the notices, spoke directly with Ben Baldanza. Ben indicated Spirit would be finalizing decisions concerning these bases in the next week, and merely wanted to have the legal notification in play for that eventuality.

Under the WARN Act the Company is required to provide an accurate number of those employees who could be affected by these types of decisions. Spirit has indicated 242 pilots are exposed to displacement or furlough. We hope their plan includes the growth of other bases but it’s hard to imagine the economic benefit of such realignment in these times of cost control.

Your MEC was not warned of these letters, and these letters represent a significant departure from the “State of the Industry” address Carlson, Lancelot, and Baldanza presented to us a short, 10 days ago.

If this is a tactic to win concessions or undermine our resolve in negotiations, then shame on Spirit. If however, this is a sign of the times, and the future, then the hard-working Spirit pilot who:

1. Saved this company after 9/11;

2. Made the fleet transition as smooth and inexpensive as possible;

3. Kept Spirit safe in the expansion into Central and South America;

4. Has sacrificed financially to provide the growth opportunities and the record low CASM Spirit now enjoys;

should have as much advance warning as possible of ANY potential furloughs. We will also work closely with ALPA National’s Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee to formulate plans to protect our pilots against any potential outcome of these letters.

We will keep you updated on the situation as it develops. We encourage you, as always, to FLY SAFE, and FLY OUR CONTRACT.

BoredwLife 05-31-2008 12:24 PM

Welcome to the suck.

Best of luck, I have good friends at Spirit!

Touche, Breckster, but not much we can do at this point except sit back and see how deep the stinger is.

Are you part of the "stinger" or one of us "stingies" my friend...

Heard Ben's contract was not renewed? Any truth about that?

I guess we are finding out how this "shinning star" is going to read... hopefully it has a few more chapters in it;)

Short Bus Drive 06-01-2008 03:50 AM

The way I read it, it looks like there will be some furloughs, but not ALL 242. Just that 242 pilots will be effected (affected?). That means, the newly upgraded guys/girls will go back to the right seat, the LGA/SJU pilots will have to go back to FLL, etc.
Either way you slice it, it SUCKS. I'll probably be joining you guys on the streets come fall, with UAL parking 30 A/C.
Just living the dream! :rolleyes:

Looks as though you know his Modus operandi

x183 06-01-2008 12:58 PM

Don't give anything back.

I'll take my furlough like a man. The contract provides for furloughs. I don't want our group giving anything up. If we give 'em something, they will take it. And then furlough anyway. And we will never get it back. They will only keep as many of us around as they have to. Don't give em anything guys...it's not worth it. End.

100% behind you. don't give them ANYTHING

captscott26 06-02-2008 08:00 AM

I stand with you guys on this.....NO CONCESSIONS! I too will take a furlough over that.
