Heard on the news this morning they are cutting BOS JAX and BOS ORF. I think those are RJ routes. Now Jetblue owns Boston. They must be cleaning up with AA and DL pulling out.

Cutting the small lift out of BOS is a lot different than cutting out ATL, CVG, LAX, and the FL markets. remember that BOS was Mullin's baby. We spent 300+ million on that terminal for him to get to work. It was one of the worst decisions that we have made. BOS is not the type of market that needed that. Now we are stuck with JFK and that mess. We could have used the money there.

Yes, the official word is 7 or 8 more 777LR's this year in addition to the 10 737-700's. It is not fleet size that matters to us. It is the staffing formula, and there is a net increase of 430 needed for those jet. Just wait for the real 777 order. We are talking true job security for the bottom of the list with that one. I also expect DAL to make a decision on an 88 replacement in the next 12 to 24 months. Waiting 10 years is just too long at current prices.
With the new LR's and the need for 400+ pilots to staff the NWA fleet using the DAL staffing formula, we should see new hires this fall. I will keep preaching this until I am told otherwise by the guys that do the hiring. Currently they are keeping the party line.

Yeah, thats true. I remember when that terminal was built and the money spent on it. It was all over the papers. Poeple thought it was going to be the next JFK. Yet when I walk over there even with CAL there they still have ticket counter space up front thats vacant. I know when we get DAL js'ers going to and from LGA and JFK there always hoping, with the new terminal, that it would open as a base again. Who knows. BTW fingers and everything else I can think of, are crossed for hiring in the fall. My app is fired up and ready to go.

I agree that pilots are required to fly those airplanes, but DAL is also parking airplanes... so doesn't that cancel out the hiring?

The majority of the aircraft that are coming require more pilots than the number of aircraft being parked.

Exactly. Park 15 5.5 crew jets and bring on 7 or 8 16 crew jets for a net gain.
