Allegiant's new planes
Ok rumors are flying all over the place about Allegiant getting new planes or next to new planes. Its ranged from 757's to A321's. Personaly I would like to see 737-800's but my question to all of you is this, are any of these rumors true and if so what type of airplane would they be looking at and what your pick be if you had the choice?

I'd be willing to bet they go for the airbus 319 or 320. Just like Spirit and JB. Seems to be a favorite for LCC's. If it was my choice I'd like to see the 737-700 like what SWA and Westjet do. Any bases for the NE opening?

the erj 170-190 is not cost efficient at all compared to the CRJ 700-900 series. why would they limit their aircraft size to a regional aircraft marketed to fit into the limits of majors scope clauses? their crew costs would stay the same and move more people with 737-A320.

while lcc's or ulcc's, or what ever their marketing depts call them now, love airbus's, i dont see g4 getting them. This is due to the fact that most of g4's miniscule outstations dont have the necessary infrastructure, specifically beltloaders, that loading baggage into an airbus would require (when ever i see an Allegiant maddog somewhere its being loaded direct from the baggage cart to the cargo pit). I dont see stramlined Allegiant taking on this expenditure unless a screamin deal from airbus warrants it.

Even if Allegiant parks planes from day to day to save money dont you think the money they would save on newer a/c that are more fuel efficiant and dont requier such a hands-on maintaince program would allow them to turn a profit in the up coming quarter. I mean lets face it, what Allegiant is doing is working but dont you think that at some point they have to reavaluate their economical and finiacial outlook and say the rising cost of fuel and the amount of fuel the md-80 requiers are just not going to add up even if they sell out every flight the airline would profit more by replacing the md-80. As far as G4's out stations wouldn't the airport be responsible for updating their equipment to handle a change of a/c. Besides G4 for the most part contracts out its ground handlers at out stations, even the Florida hub SFB is contracted out to the lowest bidder.
