One thing that we should watch out for this summer, Huricanes, or lack thereof. I know it is early in the season, but if we get lucking and have nothing bigger than a cat 2 or small cat 3 and it does not shut anything in, it will help money shift out of oil and corn and back in the under performing stocks.

I think there are going to be out side factors that promotes oils decline. Computer companies are way over stocked on componets and other hardware, and their stock is suffering because of that, then you are going to see large invetory sell off at bargin prices, so they can revive their stock. The will be a flood of consumer products and consumer confidence around election time and shortly after, and then coupled with a possible fed rate increase you will see money leave the commidity market.

I think when other stocks start performing better, and as somebody else said they are getting so cheap that it is hard not to start investing agian, that will be the news maker. When something else makes the news and you get oil off of the front burner and then it will slide hard and fast.

Why people get so upset over watching the price of oil is beyond me. You can get mad all you want but it wont do any good so why bother? We should be more like airtran717 and buy futures and line our pockets too. Im guessing he is going to make out.

You guys, it may be for nothing, but you can give it a shot. Write, fax, email, call or visit your Senators and Congressman. Tell them about your outrage and how this crap has to stop with oil.

There is a bill right now, stuck in committee, in the Democrat controlled Senate, that will help alleviate the oil problem. The American Energy Protection Act (Senate Bill 2958). They won't move it out of committee to put it on the floor for a vote because they know that this oil doom and gloom only helps them (the Democrats) in the fall elections. They are ultimately playing politics with your careers and livelihoods! This nonsense needs to stop.

Before some of you criticize me for being a Republican, I am not one! I often yell at them just as much as I do the Democrats. I am actually a Libertarian now, and just switched my party affiliation to the Libertarian party.

It is exactly that type of apathy that is going to be the downfall of this country. No one cares anymore and everyone is in it for themselves.

I'm officially numb to the changes. I've stopped watching. Hopefully some action from Congress will save the airline industry.

You mean we should blame Southwest Airlines and other airlines that trade Oil Futures?

it's a bit of a stretch to say the dems control the senate...dems are majority, but only because the two independents-sanders and lieberman caucus w/them, giving them only 51/49, hardly an overwhelming controlling majority, just a thought. they're all to blame. we just keep sucking it up and the rich get richer. nothing's going to change until we demand it.

I've got an idea, repeal the law of supply and demand. Everything from airline travel to prostitution will benefit! :cool:

This way when demand skyrockets we can reduce cost by keeping supply stagnant or decreasing and refusing to do anything about it. :rolleyes:

Apparently Obama and liberals think the law of supply and demand are 'a failed policy of the past' so lets make it official and get rid of it. Then we'll increase taxes and add a big dash of cap and trade and whatever else the Europeans have already tried and now reject and people will be knocking our door down to fly on our planes, great idea... vote Obama guys- that'll help. :D

When was the last time a congressman/senator did anything to help. I agree that if you feel like complaining you have to do something, but writing your congressmen hasnt worked since elementary school. Now all you get is a "thank you for your comments and we are looking into it"
Besides how does congress do anything. Its a free market, and personally the government just messes everything they touch up (Think TSA, Social Security, Border Control, Education, etc) I dont really want them sticking their noses in anymore areas. Free markets work through things faster and better than any government action. There is really no reason for a continuous unending rise in oil. They say demand is higher than production, if that is true then they are saying demand has increased over 75% in the last 12 months? Im calling shinanigans on that. Hopefully this whole thing is only accelerating the recession and we can work through it over the next year and start to turn it around.
