Great Job US Airways Pilots

Hope you guys managed to get a copy of USA Today on wednesday.....Your Argument is spot on......

However we did have to assure 150 passengers total today that we had plenty of fuel for our flights

Saw a news story on the National News tonight about what the Airways Pilot's/Union did with that FULL page ad. Amazing, huh?

They not only got their point across via full-page ad in a national newspaper, but also managed to get a couple of minutes story on National news.

Way to go guys!!!!!

US Airways pilots: We're pressured to cut fuel

Most people don't have any idea about airplanes and fuel. I think this is unnecessary bad publicity for an airline in bad times. Must people here know because they are pilots or have interest in aviation, but some paying customers will not fly USAir thinking the airplane doesn't have enough fuel. Find other ways to get the point across, but don't drive paying customers away. I agree with the pilots, I don’t agree with putting a full page ad in a national newspaper.

If you take the issue to management and they don't back off, how else do you get the point across but use the leverage you have. I am glad these guys made issue of it. It only helps the rest of us by keeping Captain's Authority sacrosanct.

Anyone who doesn't book a ticket on US Airways because they think there won't be enough fuel on the airplane made the same mistake you did, though. They didn't listen to the FULL argument. The pilots are willing to put enough fuel on that airplane and make the flight safe, despite management's moves to do otherwise.

I just don't think it was a smart thing to do. I don't know what could be done, but doing something that could possibly drive customers away and damage a brand is never a good thing. What is the point of getting the fuel but now have fewer customers? Like I said, there has to be a better way.

I wonder how many will listen to the full argument......

People don't care about the argument, they care about safely getting there. Example,
"Hey Mike did you hear about USAir"
No
"Well, their airplanes don't have enough fuel"
Oh, I guess we won't book with them.

"But they're $6 cheaper each way!

Oh, I guess its ok then."

BRAVO US AIR. MDT I am taking a guess that you have never tried to deal with an airline managment group directly based on your remarks. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong.
