Good job by the crew though. Seven minutes is impressive.

Never under-estimate the motivation provided by an airborne fire :)

Funny stuff - a friend who was piloting this jet tells a similar story. He knew everyone in the ready room would be listening so he wanted to sound cool on the radio. It must have the wind noise in the cockpit that made his voice sound a few octaves higher :)

Albie,

You were supposed to have been able to just blow out the flames.... I guess you were parked more than 50 yards away. Chuck Norris or Jack Bauer could at least have used a manly stressed voice and not the little girl one... I take it you were the lead as only he can determine use of the F word, right?.......
Levity moment, thanks.

7 minutes- about $30 of flight deck crew pay...
Beating any fire in a plane, whether or not you make the news- PRICELESS!

Yea, Great job guys! Your professionalism and skills led to a positive outcome. I hope the media takes that to the public.

Aside from doing a great job, this is when pilots really deserve every penny they make. So much for those articles that say pilots are over paid and their job is mostly "automated"!

Still laughing...

I didn't hear about this one. This type of stuff is the only thing I miss about not being in crew scheduling anymore. I used to hear about it almost right away if I was there, me being kinda nosey and all. I think I can still find out the crew and send them an atta-boy message or something.

edit:
Geez, I just found out that crew even finished 3 more legs after that!
Hats off to you, guys! Awesome! What a crew.
