Northwest ATI

So a while back I got an opportunity to visit NWA's NATCO facility in Minneapolis. The people there explained to me the ATI program, the requirements to get into the program, pay and all that stuff. They also told me that when times are good and the airline is hiring they sponsor an "ATI to Line" program in which they take the instructors and type them and eventaully they find their way to the line, bypassing the regional airline "dues paying." I have not heard any news about them in the past few months and i was wondering if anyone has any updates on them: Are they hiring for this position, what is the future of the NWA ATIs and the Natco facility itself with regards to the merger, do they plan on continuing the ATI to Line program after the merger, and what do they look for to be competitive for this position?

When I went through training, I was told that the ATI to the line is no longer.

True, but they can do test flights and ferries.

Heyas,

The ATI to the line program is dead an buried. There might be a FEW old timers that still have rights to the line, but they've been there forever. Most, if not all of the ATIs with line rights took them in the hiring mini-spree of 07.

Building N will remain. You don't pick up and move 17 level C/D sims and however many full size FTD's for no reason.

Speaking of sims, I heard they just set up the first NWA B-787 level D sim at NATCO last week...anyone check it out?

I believe long after the merger, NATCO will be used for A-330, B-747, B-757, A-320 & B-787 Delta/NWA training.

I was uip there a couple of weeks ago for an instructor interview, and they were running tests on the 787 sim.

Yup. I was just up there. I got to watch the whole installation process. Very cool. 1 Sim with two 2 FTDs.

It's going to be a neat bird.
