Wait until they start charging to use the tray table, recline the seat, turn on the reading light, and use the gaspers.

While I understand the challenges the airlines are going through, my time, money, and patience are finite resources and if I can avoid wasting them on an airline flight I will. The passenger experience sucks and I will do what I can to avoid it. And there are probably thousands of others who feel the same way.
I'm curious, how much and what kind of food, snacks and water were provided to you by the rental company....

Some of you here need to be CEO, I still can't get the idea of nickel and diming yet..maybe it just me that think (nothing is free and this is a business) If you don't want to drink, just don't buy the product but don't hate when a company is trying to survive.

Oh, don't expect a free drink next time you go to the movie! Because you're not going to get one!

I wonder if you could get that past TSA?

Anything to keep CEO's salary in the 7 figure range...
This may not be the best way to "try to survive", there is probably other options to save the $100 total per flight bill for inflight beverages and keep happy customers. What if they added the actual cost of the beverage to the ticket (i.e the .20c for a can of coke they get it for)? They probably still add the cost and make the pax pay for it.

How much of that was alcohol that would have been sold anyway? If you ticked off one passenger and they decide to fly someone else. That may give that stuff for free. How much of that $130 is left?

When is the last time that anyone on this forum received free drinks and snacks at:

The Movies
An amusement park
A train ride
A ferry ride
A bus ride
A museum
A play
A concert
The subway
A mall

Face it - the american consumer will complain all day long - but if USAIR shows up first on Priceline/Expedia/Orbitz etc with the cheapest flight they will buy it. Yeah - the industry sucks, but look around, people wanted cheap airfares and they got them - for a while anyway.

Maybe, just maybe, the bleeding contest will stop soon, and it'll be free water for everyone again...

This is dead on. Thats why everyone started charging for bags also. People will look at the ticket prices on line and book accordingly. Then when they show up at the airport...its by the way we need to charge you for everything under the sun. They have a captive consumer at that point.
