While I understand the challenges the airlines are going through, my time, money, and patience are finite resources and if I can avoid wasting them on an airline flight I will. Some of you here need to be CEO, I still can't get the idea of nickel and diming yet..maybe it just me that think (nothing is free and this is a business) If you don't want to drink, just don't buy the product but don't hate when a company is trying to survive.

Anything to keep CEO's salary in the 7 figure range...
This may not be the best way to "try to survive", there is probably other options to save the $100 total per flight bill for inflight beverages and keep happy customers. What if they added the actual cost of the beverage to the ticket (i.e the .20c for a can of coke they get it for)? They probably still add the cost and make the pax pay for it.

Face it - the american consumer will complain all day long - but if USAIR shows up first on Priceline/Expedia/Orbitz etc with the cheapest flight they will buy it. Yeah - the industry sucks, but look around, people wanted cheap airfares and they got them - for a while anyway.
