CAL scope

Is CAL trying to get the pilots to relax on scope to avoid downgrades/furloughs?

I sure hope not...start my daddy daycare session on 09Sept..would like to come back to a better airline...if there is such a thing!

It is not the 50 seat scope clause in our contract. It is scope as relates to an alliance with other aairlines.

I will be surprised if it passes. Though it is CAL so you never know.

you mean like it will be ok for united to fly code share flights with CAL on over 50 seat sized regional aircraft

I'm not sure on the specifics. It means less flying for CAL pilots in the future.

I think it is an attempt to get rid of XJT. Results in less flying for CAL and former Continental Express family.

Fighting for my furloughed friends!

Word on the rumor street was that management asked our union to relax scope so other airlines could fly 70 seaters for CAL, management said that they would not furlough if we agreed. We said "politely" not a chance. We happily said that mainline pilots will fly the 70 seaters for decent compensation, but we will not allow anyone else to fly them here.

It's the least we can do, and everyone I've talked to at work, (yes, even the scabs) do not want to relax scope. There is hope and we will get a better contract!

Honestly, what kind of payscale would CAL pilots consider fair for an EMB-170 or EMB-190? I'm just curious how much money CAL thinks they'll save by outsourcing it. I'd love to see CAL pilots flying those planes and having their jobs saved.

We already have a payscale; small narrow-body pay per CBA.

Bingo. CAL keeping their scope is a great thing for the industry. Management wants to sustain this ridiculous mentality that many have adopted that a 70-90 seater is a regional aircraft.....it's not!

Kudos to the CAL pilots for holding the line.
