AMR pilot shortage

"But this had to get out today. After furloughing 450 pilots
including 75 in April, the company has realized that they will be
short pilots for the months of June and July. This shortage will
affect the S80 and 767 divisions and is due to increased military
flying and deceased pilots (and of course furloughing too many
pilots).

There was a hint of the BOD to help out and allow 83 hour flex
months. The response was "hell no". AMR needs to immediately
call back the most recent pilots furloughed who are still current
and qualified and guarantee their stay at least until May of next
year. We are not bringing pilots back to fly two months and then
get furloughed again. And I am against negotiating anything for
their return. Get them back now. Our airplanes need to be
crewed or we're going to be canceling flights this summer.

Someone's head is going to roll in Centerport."
