You Mods are evidently adhering to a strict no politics creed; that's your choice. I seriously doubt that this forum will change any one's vote, so you might be justified. Darn shame that we can't even touch the subject with all that we KNOW about McCain's view on unions, particularly pilot unions, and Obama's inexperience. This is definitely the best professional pilot forum around, but I think it's getting terribly watered down like the organization to which most of us pay dues to. Note, I said organization because IMHO, ALPA is no longer a UNION. Just as APC is no longer a forum, when it comes to politics that will deeply affect airline pilots. In 5 years when all flying is outsourced to European carriers, ask ASTAR, you might have wished you didn't censor this board so aggressively. Hope this isn't too political.

We're probably screwed either way. At least w/ McCain, I will sleep sounder at night about this nation's security and I may be able to keep a few more $$ in my pocket.

Has it occurred to you, 320fumes, that there may be more important issues at stake for our country than what's best for a few thousand pilots?

Spliff:

Very respectfully, before this thread gets closed. I certainly have considerred that. I'm not afraid of the terrorist, that separates me from most people in my tax bracket. I'm more concerned about America not being the America that I grew up in. I do believe that G.W. did much more damage than Osama did. I do believe in diplomacy prior to unilateral military action. I do believe in unilateral military action, if it benefits our country. I've got a few Air -Medals and over 1,500 days in the middle-East that has influenced my opinion. I believe that the wealthiest Americans have increased their wealth exponentially, while the average Americana's qol has taken a turn for the worst during the last 7 years. I made more as an F/O in 2001 than I make as a Captain now. I've been to Gitmo, Iraq and even Iran in the past 7 years; and am proud to say that the Islamic extremist don't scare me. We could have / should have defeated them by the end of 2002. IMHO OUR extremist have hurt us much more. Not calling you names or questioning your intelligence. Just voicing MY opinion, I think I've earned the right.

If you're not afraid of what the terrorists can do to us, with all respect, you have your head buried in the sand.

Have you forgotten 9/11 already? Do you not think they're actively trying to top that every day?

I've also spent over 1500 days in the middle east and I've been everywhere you have. Don't play that card on me.

There is evil in this world. If you think extremists will let you (and your family) live because you're willing to appease them, you're wrong.

Wasn't trying to play a card. Agreed, we disagree. Good luck Spliff.

Don't think anyone said you didn't--don't go extreme on us, now.

They might not scare you, that's good. But there's acting because you're scared and there's acting because it's the rational, logical reaction to events/groups that are threatening the people of this nation and our way of life. I too believe in diplomacy before military action, but I also believe you only allow so many UN resolutions to be scoffed at before you say enough's enough. I too would love to be making more money, but as Spliff stated, there are more important issues at stake (and besides, I doubt the chosen one will really make a difference when it comes to your paycheck). I'm d@mn lucky to be an American and have the opportunities this country offers, and I for one would like to see it stick around for a while for my children's children and their children. In this case I think the decision is an easy one: a reasoned man with experience instead of an inexperienced guy who really hasn't accomplished much, but sure does talk well. Extremist action? In what regard? Asking for some ID when you come in this country? Enforcing immigration laws? Sniffing out terrorist cells here at home? If that's extremism I'll take it over anything less. PS Got the deployments, the medals, and the kills as well, but that doesn't give me any more or less right to voice my opinion.
