My apologies then. Your original post on this thread was

"Its taken a lot of work to make that place the pit it is."

With your screename, I thought you were slamming us. Yes, our management has turned this place into a hostile environment.
I'm sure you don't need me to remind you that vague responses on the internet can be taken the wrong way.

Cheers,

Ditto. Insert any airline name here, and I am willing to bet it is a lot more simplified than AA's checklists. We are SO 1950s...

We tried submitting that idea to the flight dept honchos. It was shot down with the reasoning of: a) we don't want to delay taxi (so that we can delay it by taxiing so slowly as we run through the massive taxi/before TO list) and b) they are paranoid about dropping the flaps onto some last minute baggage cart. (so why not wait until we get the final salute and do it then?) Geniuses, I tell ya...

As far as the ex TWA pilots response above, it is interesting how people only remember the good things about their previous employer. They remember none of the bad stuff.
7576, good post, and well-explained. But, as for your comment on ex-TWA'er above, none of us was actually at AA long enough to find out the 'good things', and most of us have been furloughed over 5 years now...with no recall in the future and no reason to go back.

I don't think so, we waste tons of fuel waiting on numbers."

Taxi checklist (done on taxi out):

APU
Engine anti ice
Recall
Flaps
Flight controls

Before TO Checklist (done on taxi out):

Takeoff data and bugs
Flaps
Stab trim
Takeoff PA
MCP/Nav display
Transponder
Landing lights/Strobes

Any more questions as to why we taxi so slow?

Flight controls free and correct
Run-up
launch

Of course, this is a 1946 Aeronca Champ. But, even with the reduced workload compared to you guys, I still taxi very slow...weird things happen if I don't.
