Dont spend all day looking up what a faf is, you have an airline to run.
Example 1: The localizer approach (you know where you have an ILS with the GS out) is a non-precision approach AND the navaid is at the airport. FAF is typically the OM and/or the LOM.
Example 2: A non-precision VOR/DME approach can, and often does, have a DME fix that if the FAF.
Example 3: The FAF may be defined by a cross radial from another VOR.
So, yes you also have the odd VOR or NDB approach where you hit the navaid, do the procedure turn and there is no FAF, instead you are already on the final approach segment. But these are the EXCEPTION not the rule.
Besides, why would you challenge another pilot whether he is a pilot or not? He probably is but even if he is not there's nothing wrong with hanging around in this forum anyway. I don't think the forum rules prohibit this, and I think all should be welcome. No?

I feel bad for the gentlemen and ladies who are folding up their tents and bidding the profession adieu, but I still love this flying life, and I am in for the long haul, but I am also a total geek, and quite one dimensional.

Delta pilots have taken a 47.5% pay cut since 2004. How can the company possibly want anymore. If they get cut too much, they will be the lowest paid on the legacy's, and I am afraid they will have an advantage that will lead to another round of cuts!!!
Delta pilots need to be on the ball on this one!

Well Southwest and Jetblue, mostly Southwest is not helping them either. They have the big guys by the balls making more profit than all the 6 majors combined I learned in class a couple of years ago. I think the best thing Delta can do is increase their international market and raise the ricket prices on all international flights since Southwest can't compete with them in that area.

This post started in March 2006. Anyway, the bottom line; If you keep flying they are paying you too much.
The only way to put a stop to this slide is to stop flying. Of course there is a big risk that you may lose your job entirely.
Big risk = Big payoff or big loss.

1. What is the signficance of F Street Station in ANC?
2. What are the two Main Attractions at the Sherry Frontenac in MIA?
For ex-Military guys:
3. Why did original Jolo's (Olongapo, P.I.) burn down?
4. Where was the Fire Empire located?
5. What is unique about the Shemya AFB windsock?
For Civilian guys:
6. Why was Flower Aviation a preferred refueling stop?
7. What is the tallest structure in Grand Forks, N.D.?
8. What geographical feature is located at the Crestview VOR?
Now, those are important/relevant questions for professional pilots!
Key:
1. It is the preferred watering hole for F/As on ANC layovers.
2. Dollar beer machine and other crews at the pool.
3. The 'pig movie' caught fire in the projector.
4. Angeles City (Clark AFB).
5. Its carved out of a driftwood log and attached to a post arm with an eyebolt.
6. Line girls in hot pants. Free steaks and wine with a tank of gas.
7. Toss up. Airport Control Tower or UND training building.
8. Highest point in Florida. (Watch out for the Navy flight students!)

That was a really cool quiz! I like it.
Here's one for you.
Q1. Where is there a duplicate of the officer's club bar from now-closed Cubi Point, PI?
Q2. On the arrival to what airport might you get a 'vector to Hector from the Sector Director?'
Q3. Which Seville Quarter (Pensacola) bar offered 'nickle beer' night?
Q4. What was the former name of the DoubleTree hotel in SEA?
- - - - - - - - -
A1. Naval Air Museum at Mainside NAS Pensacola
A2. LAX
A3. Phineas Fogg's
A4. Red Lion. And good luck finding your room among all those wings and buildings. When crews checked in, they should have asked for a couple of MRE's to live off in case they got lost.
