southwest bases

so this information says or means southwest pilots arnt based from the Los Angeles Area? I am a student pilot looking to fly for Southwest in the future, but i don't know what I am going to do if they don't atleast fly out of LAX or BUR this is one of the top airlines these days that I hear of! I am just trying to figure out this bases thing, I'm sure southwest pilots fly out of more then the 5 or whatever number citys I have been seeing!... let me know current pilots I look up to you guys=]

Okay,.. I'll try this.. Student.. 2 posts... VNY...

SWA does not have bases in LAX or BUR but they do fly in/out of both. The closest bases would be OAK, LAS and PHX. If you were, at some point, to be hired by SWA, you would have to commute to a base. You would have to drive from VNY to BUR and travel to one of the SWA bases to fly your trips. You would probably need a hotel room or 'crash pad' in that base for one night per trip.

If that is not something that you are willing to do, then SWA (and every other airline) is not where you need to be headed. You will need to be alot more flexible and cut the ties to home.

Hope that helps.....

Eight pilot bases: OAK, LAS, PHX, DAL, HOU, MDW, MCO, and BWI. You either live in a base, drive to it, or commute (jumpseat) to it. Best wishes in achieving your goal.

Wasn't there a version of WBid for Mac?

I think your thinking of iBid. I tried it a few times, but switched to CrewBid. Also, CrewSchedule (from the same developer) is great for printing out Moostro sheets and adding your trips to iCal and onto your iPhone (via sync) if you have one. Glad I was able to print Moostro without running windows on this thing.
