Well hey guys....thanks for your input thus far....Im about 90% sure this is where I want to end up....its gonna be a longshot for now....but whatever....nobody is going anywhere in this industry right now.
Might as well stick it out at Air Whisky and go where I want to go...rather than taking first available. Best of luck to the SWA guys and everyone else in this industry....its gonna be an interesting next couple of years. |

Good job! Now give yourself a pat in the back for not adding anything useful to this thread.

You're right, pilotwife, it was a great ride at SWA while it lasted...I'm afraid those days are gone though. This place has changed more in the last 2 years than the 35 before it. Gary is killing the SWA culture one metric at a time. Your husband probably hasn't noticed yet because he is like many pilots here...just happy to be here and have a job in these trying times. One day he will notice though and he'll realize that the dream is over here as it has turned into just another airline job only his retirement is much worse than his peers at other carriers. This is not the company I signed up for and I wish it wasn't so...too bad Herb couldn't stay with us forever.
Example: I bought 4 average new tires for my car the other day and it cost me about 1/4 of my paycheck (2nd year FO) That is just WRONG ! A retired pilot who is a great guy told me something I'll never forget; "always, always ALWAYS raise the bar" It's all negotiation, and who plays better at poker with management. |
I apologize for not reading the whole thread as I am on a trip, but just a little story from my end earlier this year. My wife needed to have outpatient surgery on a day I was supposed to be starting a trip. This was in April and I had a week left on probation. I called the chief pilot in LAS and asked what to do. He told me he'd pull the trip(a 3day) no questions asked. Worried about making a bad impression, I said I could pick up the trip on the second or third day. He said not to worry about it and to take care of my family. Later that week, a personalized card arrived from Gary Kelly and Colleen, wishing my wife the best in her recovery. Needless to say I was impressed at their attention to a lone hew hire.
We may have contract issues and codeshare questions, but talking to my squadron mates at DAL an Continental, I'm thrilled to be where I am. Hope that helps. |
just my 2 cents, when there is an early infection detected it can be cure fast. For the SWA guys, just don't let your company become like the regular airlines where we're currently at. There has been a solid foundation laid at SWA and surely do not let greed take over. if you let the infection grow and take over most of your body then it will be much harder to cure, not impossible though, but heck of a lot harder. Someone need to sit Mr Gary down and have him read "NUTS" and have him honor the leadership that help the company become who they are today... It's been said a bad leader bring his peoples to damnation....
