Family Airline

Just sent an email to John Stossel about these guys. This is ridiculous. They are preying on the misfortune of others. How awesome would it be to see John grilling that Michaels guy about where this airlines funds are going...

IMHO, Climbto350.com. and the two or three other valuable, reputable job sites, should either not allow "Confidential" postings (there is a number of reasons why this is a bad practice) or, if they insist on accepting the postings, they should investigate the character of the companies making these postings. To do otherwise exposes their paying members to a number of potential hazards, an example being "Family Airlines" which I personally know has been pandering on the web for at least ten years, looking to exploit pilots and qualified airline management personnel.

I’m a member of climbto350.com. IMO they are a reputable job search board. Back in December I expressed concerns about Family Airlines preying upon those desperate for a job. I am disappointed that to this date, I’ve not received a reply.
At the end of the day, it’s up to us to be educated job seekers, do our due diligence, and weed out those suspicious advertisers on any job search board and post such suspicions on aviation boards such as this.
You all know the adage… if its sounds too good to be true……
Any advice from the MODS on this subject?

This raises a point that goes beyond the long-running "Family Airlines" foolishness: The otherwise great job site Climbto350.com does a disservice to its paying members by accepting advertising by companies with reputations so bad that they have to hide behind the cloak of "Confidential" in their solicitations.

On the other hand, there are probably some reasonable and legitimate uses for the confidentiality screen.

Hi Slow Ride,
I have been affiliated with Family Airlines for about 5 years now. I have not invested any money, manuals, expertise, etc....just some time spent at meetings on occasion when I am in Las Vegas for days off from my full-time flying job. You might say I am the interim or "paper" Chief Pilot, and may become the real McCoy if this ever launches.
I, like others, am aware of our CEO's past and his previous efforts to launch a low-fare 747 domestic operation. It has been his "baby" and dream for many years. The business plan is real and it is do-able. Anyone who has flown in Asia can tell you that the Asian carriers fill their 747s on both domestic and short-haul INT'L routes within the region on flights less than 3 hours. So to bring this concept to the US market is not that far-fetched.
Everyone in this forum can speculate and name call as much as they like...it serves no purpose.
We did get a serious investment offer some years ago, but it was contingent on B Michaels stepping down. This did not happen and the place is in limbo much like Baltia Air, though Ive heard they finally bought an aircraft.
In either case, if you want to do more FAA research on me, my full name is Thomas G Thompson Jr, or you can simply inquire about my credentials and I would be more than happy to enlighten you about my ATP certificates and ratings from the US, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and China.
Cheers -Tommy Thompson Jr
