I have read that both MEC's agreed to freeze or take a snapshot of the seniority lists from the time merger discussions began and use that for any integreation.

Nope it is when the merger is officially announced.

As was stated above, relative seniority will be the new benchmark. However, if this person still wants to know where things stand now at CAL for a thread that is over 3 years old, these are the most junior captains from the last system bid:

CLE 737 CA July 1998

IAH 737 CA Aug 1998
IAH 756 CA Apr 1990
IAH 777 CA Jan 1983

NYC 737 CA Jun 1998
NYC 756 CA Nov 1995
NYC 777 CA Mar 1986

The exact details are unclear but he somehow (opening a champaign bottle some said) cut his thumb and bleed to death. He was in Hawaii at the time. He was a peach of a guy respected and loved by all. Pretty unique for a CP.

The NYC 756 CA has a '95 hire date because he was an Express pilot and had the flow through. NYC 756 CA "newest" hire is Jun 1998. The '95 hire is junior to him on the seniority list. Above the "G" line is probably a '90 hire or eariler.

Note: The '95 hire uses his Express hire date for pass travel and various other privileges; however, your position on the seniority list is determined by when you came to CAL, except for some Express pilots who were deferred. Of course, if you go back to the SCAB era and Old vs. New CAL, the numbers and positions on the list get very convoluted. Throw in NYA, Frontier and Peoples EX and your brain will start to hurt trying to understand all the implications of hire date and who bests who in seniority.

DAL/NWA was not integrated by a relative position methodology. It was a status and category integration with some other tweaks thrown in for adjustments. The end result was that it appeared, at face value, to be a relative position methodology but it absolutely wasn't done that way. It was done using ratios as well as a "pull and plug" for a block of the oldest NWA pilots. This is a very simplistic explanation and if you want the full version, I'm sure a copy of the actual arbitration is award is floating around out there somewhere.

Hey guys at Continental, can you check the bottom barrel DOB for any pilot at Continental? What's the lowest DOB? Any Continental pilots today born in 1984?
