SWA Jumpseat Priority for Offline Jumpseaters

Hey, Southwest guys and gals... What's the priority for OAL jumpseaters? Is it by order of check-in at the gate or by what time you listed yourself with the non-rev number? I'm just getting some conflicting info during my commute and wanted to clear it up. I appreciate all the rides I've bummed over the years. Thanks!

Priority is first come first served at the gate, with the caveat that company pilots and mechanics have priority over off line jumpseaters. Time you call the listing line means nothin... hope that helps

Thanks for the response. That's what I was thinking, but the gate agent was telling me that I had priority because I had listed before the other jumpseater. We both ended up getting on anyway so it wasn't a big deal. At least I know now! Thanks again.

At any airline, the jumpseater (and nonrev) priority is ultimately whatever that particular CSR wants it to be...

....until you politely speak up and do the CSR/gate agent's job for THEM.

At least the agent was polite and nice. Maybe she was new.

It's been my experience that SWA'S CSRs are far more courteous than most other airlines anyway. Once you get through CSR gauntlet at some carriers, the crews are always great.

Whom are you bringing the chocolates for? The gate agents, flt attendants, ops agents, all of them? Just curious. I've never jumpseated before, do you all do this to grease the wheels or just to be nice?

Not if I have any say in the matter...I will decide who rides.
