It would be nice to have some facts before putting your foot in your mouth.

Just what exactly were you expecting from the DAL MEC.......(if you are going to say ALPA cave at least point to the correct place)

The DAL MEC already offered (prior to strike vote) 100 million more in cuts verses MGTS further cut of 300+ million in cuts "take it or leave it offer".

Sounds similiar to NW's scenario..................

So if the DAL MEC was able to achieve a deal that was closer to their side and offers some other protections........where is the cave? I suggest you wait and see the details of the TA, but surely you weren't expecting DAL to get a pay raise initially ..............were you ? Maybe they acheived some snap backs later down the road. But lets wait and see.

Remember that both NW and specifically Delta in this case are in Bankruptcy!

That makes a Big difference when you are in negotiations...............

.I suspect that if the DAL MEC ( just like NW's) are not following the general direction of the membership as a whole this TA will fail membership ratification................If it passes then I don't think anyone one "caved".....................Striking is necessary as a last resort sometimes....................

If this TA fails membership ratification............I suspect that a strike might be their last option.

But that is just my opinion and ultimately it is the DAL Pilot's who make the call.................not ALPA not the MEC...........or non Delta Pilots on this forum!

Its not fair for non DAL pilots to lay credit or blame against DAL Management... ALPA... DALPA... or their MEC. Compomises to the agreement by all parties concerned during the negotiation process must have deemed appropriate have been mutually agreed upon or the consequences would have been dire to say the least. The most important aspec of this whole ordeal is the fact that a number of dedicated men and women don't have to watch their DAL die. Everyone can catch a well needed breath for a while, regroup and readdress the issues when the employees and company is on firmer ground.

Who knows... this could be a rebirth of a better, stronger, and more successful DAL.

I am a travel agent in SFO and rumor has it in our industry that the airlines may start charging "US" for booking our clients through the GDS (global distribution system). As you know, we stopped getting any commission years ago from the airlines, and now we're going to have to pay to put people on their planes? I don't know where the madness is going to stop. Continental, for example, has been asking for a booking fee of about $6.00 per segment for domestic tickets, about half what it had been charged.

Nothing like biting the hands that feed you!

I think you better look at the JetBlue thread. As long as there are pilots clamoring to fly for the likes of them (and AirTran and Frontier, etc., etc.) then this profession (and pay) has nowhere to go but down.
