I am sure that the yeild will not be great on the route, but it is one of those routes that needs to be flown to be a truly "Global" Airline.

yes they are just switching a 767 to a 757. Right there they cut capacity but not service. As far as I know Delta just said they were cutting capasity.

This route will be interesting to see how how DL does load factor-wise. There is already two on the route, QF with its A388, UA with the 744 and soon Virgin Australia with the 77W. Now DL enters the fray. Thats a lot of seats daily btw SYD-LAX. I know DL has a huge feed into ATL and a decent one into LAX. I would like to see how many SYD bound pax get on at ATL. I know QF runs a daily LAX-JFK-LAX run so their 744 does not sit all day at LAX so they do get some east coast feed. I hope DL can make this work long-term. I imagine there will be a sizeable marketing campaign in the Sydney area.

How does QF (I assume that is Qantas) fly LAX-JFK-LAX ? Are we allowing foreign carriers domestic routes?

As long as no passengers or freight is placed on the aircraft in LAX, going to JFK, or get off the airplane in LAX from JFK, then it's just an international continuation, not cabotage.

Heck Yeah! I'm gonna get me some sheilas!

(Course, by the time I'm senior enough to hold 777, I'll be old as the hills . . )

I had the pleasure of knowing a couple of Sheilas while passing through Perth. I'm sure with a little charm, even a gray haired 777 Captain and FO could could find a nice dinner companion. Out of two visits, I think 4 of the pilots from our airwing wound up marrying Aussies..... So don't say I didn't warn you...... They have quite a bit of charm as well. Oh, and the accent..... turns and 7 into a 10 almost immeddiately. Wow!!!!!

How do they do it? The SAME way that UAL goes LAX/SFO-SYD-MEL.

Just do NOT think you can EVER out-drink an aussie. The average Australian 1st grade girl can out-drink most adults that I know. Long as you know those ground rules, you'll find Sydney and the aussie people some of the greatest in the world.

Good luck with that !
Lots of competition on this rte and QF has the drop when it comes to inflight service across all classes .
You folks at DAL have your work cut out for you .
