AA will recall 24 pilots Feb 11, 2009. Recall letters being mailed today.

More probable in March.

Good news. Hope it is a trend and not a negotiation tactic.

How are your negotiations going? Any chance you'll have a contract this year?

If there are no earlier deferrals returning, then yes, it would be 100& TWA recallees.

Here are the stats:..... Remaining Furloughs 1204 (not yet offered recall)....Total Still Furloughed 1973 (including deferrals.)

The next 818 pilots offered recall will be TWAers... after that we have 385 Natives (the very bottom of the furlough list)... and then we'd see new hires. This does not include earlier deferrals who choose to return to one of the recall classes.

To those coming back - WELCOME! This is a great start to 2009, hopefully it will continue.

Re: Jake Wheeler's question about a contract... we are still stalled on negotiations and as far apart as ever. Contract this year is iffy. But I'm sure we'll have plenty of fireworks.

Chances are better we will have a contract this year. I'm prohibited from sharing the reasons by the rules of this forum. Suffice it to say, we should have a little more help from our friends at the NMB.

Finally some great news in the sea of gloom & doom...

There was some speculation here before regarding AMR parking many of your MD80s later this year... If so, would AA be recalling only to furlough them again?

Lot's of speculation for sure but are they recalling because people are retiring or because there's some growth?

Thanks.

MD80s rumored not to be parked quite yet due to drop in fuel prices.

The recalls are mainly to accommodate attrition (from last year's record early outs!) but I also believe there will be some increased flying with the new 737s coming in March PLUS the MD80s not being parked as planned.

I also believe that there will probably be more recalls coming up... JMO.

Not to mention the the 6 month forecast still has substantial A300 pilots on it. I do not think AA will be grounding those as fast as we thought, especially with the cheap cost of Jet A
