spirit ACY
does the ACY pilot base also close on feb 1st along with LGA?
|
No, the ACY base will increase in size and there is no plan to close it in the near future.....hopefully :)
|
It's gone junior too, hasn't it?
|
well....yes and no.
The top 50% of both Capts and FOs are very senior, and the bottom 50% are very junior. If we ever get some upgrades and recalls, with ACY being the junior base, many of the very senior FO's will probably take the upgrade and even things out a bit. |
resurrecting old thread...
Does anyone have any info on commuting to ACY...perhaps in to Philly then mass transit to ACY airport? Is there any way to do that? What have others done in the past? Are there crash pads near ACY? Finally, with new classes starting any estimate on how long until one could hold a line in ACY? Thanks |
I was ACY based for some time. I flew into PHL all the time and drove to ACY. I parked my car at Preflight. It was $90 a month.

I am based in ACY for another company but I live within driving distance. Many of the guys from work commute into ACY on Spirit from Detroit, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale (Myrtle Beach and Orlando are also cities where you can fly into ACY from). The other way to get directly to ACY is Airtran from Atlanta but I think that service is being cut Jan 8th, 2012. If you fly into Philly, you either need a car or get familiar with the train routes. It can be done via train and taxi but it takes a little research. You cannot get directly to the airport via train. There is a car service that you can use but it costs around $80 one way between the airports. (PHL/ACY) |
Thanks for all the answers.
How are the lines in ACY? Day trips or mostly 2, 3, or 4 days? How about FLL? Any guess on how long to hold a line there? Trying to decide what to do about base selections. I live near Columbus OH and there are only 2 leg options to FLL. To PHL there are multiple one leg options to PHL. Any reasonable priced crash pads in FLL where I could get away without having a car? I've not commuted before. During my stint at the regionals I lived within driving distance of base. Finally, any chance of hold DTW? lol...I think I already know the answer to that. |
