If this makes you feel any better, NWA hired folks to cover those that didn't return from furlough and also to preserve the summer 2008 flying. Had the 2008 October APA been awarded, all newhires would have been furloughed and some back on furlough from the round prior. There were hardly any military in our newhire classes and most of my peers were relatively very junior RJ or prop captains with approximately 300 to 1,000 hours PIC or so hours. Of course we had some that were also very experienced but lived in one of the bases. It seems NWA clearly targeted certain regionals, those that lived in or near a NWA base and relatively junior Captains elsewhere.
Maybe they felt we were so junior we had nothing to lose by giving NWA a shot for the summer. In training, we all felt like we were just being rammed through to get online before the summer kicked off; almost everyone in my newhire class repeated some portion of training as it was clearly cut to the bones. My last regional spent twice the time covering systems. I have also flown with check airmen who tried to get personal friends interviewed with no luck. I am very gratful that Delta came along, it's a class act company and brings much welcomed change.

Life goes on. To the Delta Pilots for what is't worth the Compass group of pilots is extremely professoinal the best i have been around and yes we have some anchors (like all airlines) but we also have many more that have numerous type ratings and in excess of 10,000 hours. Not saying we are all Captain America (captian sully to those laymans out there) but i believe the training would be a non-factor for 95 percent of the group.. I must admit thou i would probably crap my pants having to learn and fly a DC-9 around without all the glass.. how does one survive?

Yah i understand all that it is just the irony of it all. That I along with hundreds of others believed the way to NWA mainline was thru Compass and then all of the sudden NWA hires the same people who were not able to obtain the Compass interview and just a few short months later they are the ones who ultimatly could hold my captain seat because of a flow back... THIS CRUEL WORLD OF SENIORTY.

Some on here cease to amaze me. You have to wait for the computer to weed through the apps before you can help a friend out? What if you'd taken a resume to the CP office and said, "Hey this guy is a good *******. He's qualified and would be a good fit for our company." The CP, or rep, would then maybe have an informal meeting with said person and then possibly offer a recommendation to the hiring dept. Which part of this do you not understand? Ironic?
Alot of regionals out there use this type of system to screen guys that don't meet the mins. I know of three others that you CANNOT help a guy get called for an interview. There is nothing you can do or nobody you can talk to that will help a buddy out. Once the computer screens them and they get an interview, then you start doing the talking and help the guy get hired. It sounds like Compass used the same type system. Go easy on the guy.

For those who would want Compass absorbed into mainline, we need a tag line, a bumper sticker like slogan.I'm stuck on Their Planes, Their Pilots, Our List, Staple Compass. I don't know, maybe someone is more creative. Thats a long bumper sticker.
Or talking points, so when you write your reps we're not all over the place. We're pacific* about what we want. Kind of like you're a political strategist/apologist about to go on the 5pm cable news. I mean like 3 specific things that we, who want this, can agree to just keep repeating until DALPA is forced to respond specifically to our demands.
