Default Boeing, 25 717's and Mexicana

Did anyone notice this release today? Has any word been spoken as to whether or not this would be the remainder of Midwest's mainline fleet? If this has already been posted, my apologies...

Mexicana, Boeing Sign 717 Lease Deal

Tuesday, March 10, 2009
AviationWeek.com
Mexican and Boeing Capital have signed a lease agreement for 25 717 aircraft to replace Click's fleet of Fokker 100s.
Mexicana and Boeing Capital have finally signed a lease agreement for 25 717 aircraft.

The 717s will be used to replace Click’s aging fleet of 100-seat Fokker 100s. The low-cost unit is schedduled to take delivery of the first 717 at the end of this month (DAILY, Feb. 25).

In addition to the lease agreement, Boeing’s Commercial Aviation Services group will provide staff training for flight and ground crews, as well as initial spare parts provisioning. Pilot training started last month.
“With these 25 airplanes, we give a strong boost to MexicanaClick and a better way to improve the passengers’ experience and the airline’s operating efficiency to maintain its leadership both in quality of equipment as well as on-board services,” said Mexicana Group Director General Manuel Borja in a release.
Of the 25 717s set to join Mexicana’s fleet, 16 are aircraft once operated by Milwaukee, Wis.-based Midwest Air Group.

A Boeing spokesman told The DAILY the company has yet to decide where it will source the remaining nine airframes.
“At a time when economic conditions pose challenges to airline operators and travelers, the 717 offers a wealth of value — greater fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs, a modern flight deck and spacious interior,” said Boeing Capital VP for Structured Financing Tim Myers.
“We’re pleased to join forces with Mexicana to bring the 717 to the region Elite business class and 84 in the Tourist economy cabin. The front will be configured for a two-by-two layout, while the back cabin will have three-by-two all-leather seating

The seating mimics that employed by Midwest.
Mexicana plans to take delivery of all 25 717s by the end of 2010 and is leasing this fleet for between three to five years while a permanent replacement program for its F100s is completed.
The first Click service is scheduled on April 1.

Yep. They would have been nice in DAL colors but Boeing wanted to much for them.

So Boeing is looking for nine additional airframes to complete the agreement....isn't that the exact number that Midwest still has?
