Flew airtran today for the first time ever, I always rode NWA out of GRB and connected but this time I drove an extra 45min to MKE and got a non stop to MCO (TRS677) . The check in people were more than helpfull the gate agents seemed to be happy doing thier jobs , the capt. co-pilot were very friendly , the attendants were great and there was a capt in the jetway when we landed who was just waiting for us to off load but greeted every passenger as they exited the plane. I am very happy with my experience and will fly them again in the future for sure.

When I was commuting I used them about 70% of the time... top notch 99% of the time.... only one time did I have a problem and that was a gate agent in ATL who told me that to get the jumpseat I had to list 1 hour prior.... I said.."ma'am... I was halfway between IND at ATL one hour prior"... she insisted she couldnt list me.... about 5 mins later a supervisor walked up.. inquired as to whether I had been accomodated... when she started to tell her story she was summarily cut off and I was waved over by the super...given a JS card and off I went. fwiw..i ended up in business class as is on par if they had seats avail.... AIR TRAN always JS friendly. Hated it when they pulled out of my local airport.

My only question is how did you drive from GRB to MKE in 45 minutes??

Air Tran, Jet Blue, and Southwest are problably the friendliest jump seat carriers out there. From the Check in counters to the crews.

Ce650 drove an EXTRA 45 minutes... I'm guessing GRB isn't home

I was hoping that someone found a shortcut. I live in Appleton and work in Green Bay.

I have never had a bad experience with any crew on any carrier - all super. Gate agents can be hit and miss, mostly good to great but I have been hosed a few times including some of the carriers listed above but I guess thats just the law of averages.

You are right... I agree. It depends on the airport, pressures that the gate agents are under.
