Electronic Flight Bag - CAL Pilots
I am currently studying the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems.
My questions are: 1. Is CAL currently using the Class 2 EFB and if so, are there any complaints with the system? 2. How reliable is the system? 3. What hardware and software do you use? 4. What Application does CAL use? 5. How much memory does the system have? 6. Is there a problem with the system locking up? I know that all may not have answers for 3, 4 and 5. I am just trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks in advance. |
I don't think CAL has EFBs. The regional Compass Airlines currently uses EFBs, but I don't remember hearing anything about CAL using them.

We don't have them fully. I think our 777s may have some for testing but we are a few years away from this. The economy slowed this down.

Have to get back with the info on the opening questions/specs. |

Not true.....some of CAL's B757 fleet does have the hardware and EFB units in and working. They are 'slow' in the process of installing them, you see more planes with just the hardware (brackets and wiring), not the EFB's fully in and functioning. I have flown 3 aircraft over the last 4 months that have the operating EFBS. I have nothing to compare it to, but they are pretty sweet to use, and from what I found, user friendly.

Electronic Flight Bag
I have flown several in the past couple of months. All have been broken in some way or another. They are better than paper charts but not by much.
