F9 & RAH new seniority list?
 
I have read several of the other post on the merger but no one has really said what they think would happen IF they had to merge the seniority list. My understanding is that it would go to carrier expectations, since all F9 are flying narrow bodies and all RAH are flying RJ's I would guess that all F9 would be senior to all RAH. And all Mid guys would be zippered in with RAH since they are only flying 717 now, and all Mid guys on furlough would be stapled to the bottom just like the US air award. What do you all think???:rolleyes:
ALSO I would think that the pay for RAH 190 would come up because that is getting pretty close to the capacity of the 318 and we all know the rates would not get any lower.

The first thing to do is leave the word staple out of it. That's not what anyone wants. Bedford is pretty set in saying that he will sell before he integrates the list with F9. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. And no, sorry, just because they fly the bus, doesn't make them automatically more senior to all of RAH. It will be up to the pilot groups to decide what's right if we ever get to that point.

Sorry staple was the wrong word, but you know what I was getting at. Also I would think that a combined seniority list would be better than a separate one, that way there is no chance of whipsaw between the different pilot groups. Especially since you guys already have pay rates for the 190 that are not even close to the airbus rates, if you think you guys wont move flying over from F9 to your 190's, unless F9 does it cheaper, we have all seen management from all over do just that. And especially since you guys are in contact negotiations, you go in and ask for the pay rates you should get for the 190 and management says if we were gonna pay that we would just move them over to F9, and so you guys take something lower. JO did this exact same thing with Mesa/Freedom back in 02/03 and we see the same thing at Go Jet. If you guys don't combine make sure MECs from both parties are in on any contract negotiations.

There will be no staple or DOH...the new federal law requires alleghany-mohawk formula.

Is the two groups agree on something else, that is between them, but nothing is going to get forced on one group or the other.

I would expect a lsit favoring F9 by seniority, but with temporary fences on both sides.

One unknown here is how "career expectations" will be defined in the case of a regional/major merger. Do make the assumption that all the regional pilots are lifers and fence them accordingly? Or do you allow for the expectation that some of the egional pilots would move on?

I suspect you would have to treat them all as RJ lifers...if they want to move on, they can always do that.

I believe career expectations are based on your current airline, not where you may go. So RAH pilots career expectations would be based on the largest a/c on property now.

Didn't stay in a Holiday Inn so I'm not positive.

Maybe if F9 bought RAH but it's the other way around. There's no way the airline that's buying the other is going to end up on the bottom. A % integration is probably the most likely answer but we'll have to wait and see what the union has to say. I'd guess a % integration with fences so that F9 pilots couldn't bid out and RAH pilots couldn't bid in.

Don't be so certain TD. If it comes down to arbitration, it will be hard to argue that it shouldn't happen due to the huge differences in equipment, pay, & QOL. At this time RAH flys nothing larger then an E175, & the pay differences are huge. Just because RAH may buy F9 does not mean F9 pilots go on bottom. Overall earnings(including retirement) @ F9 are far better then at RAH. Be careful not to set yourself up for huge disappontment.

An arbitrator would also take into account where the money came from that has kept F9 operating this whole time. Aircraft size shouldn't matter in any arbitration. Seniority integration is not about the size of the metal flown but about who deserves what. If RAH saves an airline from dieing then the pilots who have always been loyal to RAH won't get the shaft. Like I said we'll wait to hear from the unions on this one.

Like I said somewhere else already today, don't get too full of yourself by thinking your company is saving two failing airlines from oblivion. This is not charity; this is business, and we have no idea what Bedford is going to do next. And please remember that Republic was subsidized by the trunk lines who guarantee you a profit. Now was that charity or business?

And as I have said before, I would not get to confident in what you are wishing for. Existing pilots at Frontier will have this place shut down before someone like you comes in and ruins the great company that we (existing pilots) have worked hard for.

Let me guess, you were hired at RAH with 600...700 hours? :)
