Southwest may make a bid for Frontier
#41
Q: What about Lynx (the regional carrier operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Frontier)?
A. As part of our overall due diligence, Southwest Airlines will study Lynx. Until a bid is finalized, it’s too early to say.

This sounds like southwest may offer preferential hiring to frontier guys as they lose their jobs. Based on that, they don't intend to integrate the pilot lists. As the Airbus goes away, those affect pilots can then likely interview and be hired to the bottom of the southwest list. Hopefully there will be language in the buyout stating that southwest HAS to hire them, and not just interview. This is the end of F9 if southwest wins. We'll see how good or bad it is for the current employees.
Who knows where Lynx Aviation pilots fall in all this? SWA Express?

Which means that when F9 furloughs as part of the consolidation of operations, the most junior guys would go over to SWA since they will be furloughed first. And the most senior guys will go last or not have a place to go until SWA needs more pilots. This is why I hope SWAPA steps up and does right by the F9 pilots and afford them a fair process towards a SLI.

Always be nice to your FO, he may be your next Capt.
Or at WN, he may have the Black Ball pen.

Ahh, if i'm doing the math correctly, SWA would have to pony up almost $400 mil to get F9 from RAH. Sounds to me either way Bedford wins.

If SWA does in fact purchase F9 Im gonna assume that there won't be an integration, with that Im also going to assume that the F9 opinion will vary widely based on age and seniority. If your 55 I don't think you are gonna want to be starting out on the bottom of a seniority list at any airline. However if your 35 and have half your career in front of you then SWA is ideal because most pilots would be completly happy making a career at SWA.
As for hurting UAL... Maybe but maybe as much as you may think, SWA has just eliminated a huge competitor in Denver.
As an CHQ guy I truely hope that SWA does get the go ahead to buy/kill off F9 as the integration would have been horrible for both groups and as someone said earlier it sets a horrible precedent. I for one would much rather be given the oppritunity to be stapled to SWAs list than be integrated into RAHs. But again Im only 28.

Reading the explanation from southwest, this almost sounds like Frontier guys/gals may be trading in their jobs and careers for nothing more than an interview. I know working for southwest sounds glamorous, but I would never want to make that kind of tradeoff. If it turns out to be the case.

If Republic is owed approx. $200 mil., would Frontier still be obligated to pay that back or does that debt fall on Southwest if they aquired Frontier?
Sounds to me like Southwest is just trying to take away Denver competition; United will fall hard if this happens being as they are already on shaky ground. If this is the case, aquiring and additional 700 pilot salaries is probably not in Southwest's game plane as they need to remain cost effective to take out United.

Sad times for Frontier. A guaranteed job with Republic's low-pay or a possible interview at Southwest.
